Nanjing, the capital of Jiangsu Province, released a new guideline on January 4 to expedite its well-established development objective of becoming an innovative city.

The CPC Nanjing Municipal Committee held a promotion meeting to announce "No. 1 document," the first policy statement by the committee in the new year.

The document improves the overall work framework and solutions to speed up the initiative with a full consideration of changes in development environment, the country’s strategic needs and the city’s priorities. It proposes 20 specific measures on nine fronts to stimulate innovation across the board.

To move closer to the objective, Nanjing will also launch seven programs aided by relevant support policy, such as increasing the number of market players, protection of intellectual property rights, and the Purple Mountain Talent Act.

Since 2018, the committee has focused its first policy statement in the new year all on the development initiative, introducing 46 policy measures so far to boost innovation through systematic approaches.
