Jiangsu Province held its work conference on housing and urban-rural development in Nanjing City on January 8 and 9.

By 2025, the province plans to start renovations on over 700 old urban residential areas and update elevators in aging buildings.

Additionally, Jiangsu will continue to advance parking projects and add 14,000 new shared parking spaces by 2025, which will be managed under smart parking systems. The province also plans to add 40 new gardens, and 130 new sports and leisure facilities.

To preserve cultural heritage, Jiangsu will robustly foster a holistic system for towns and villages with cultural and historical significance. Efforts will be made to protect traditional villages and architectural clusters, alongside innovating financial service models for the protection and development of traditional villages.

To bridge the gap between urban and rural development, Jiangsu will highlight the distinctive features of small towns, and enhance their infrastructure and environmental quality, pioneering a new pattern of integrated urban-rural development at the county level.
