Angela Merkel urges Japan to face history[Detail]
Former US ambassador to China Gary Locke paid an unexpected visit to the Nanjing Massacre Memorial Hall on Thursday, saying "history cannot be forgotten".Locke was the 10th US ambassador to China, but the first US official of Chinese descent to hold the position. He resigned in February to join his family in the US.[Detail]
A denial of Japan's wartime atrocities by NHK executives has sparked widespread fear among international media that the public broadcaster is losing its independence and becoming the mouthpiece of Shinzo Abe's government.[Detail]

A major US newspaper has joined the international outcry over the historical denialism of leaders of Japan's public broadcaster NHK and asked Japanese Prime Minister Shinzo Abeto condemn these comments with "equal clarity."[Detail]
