Southeast University and University of Pennsylvania launched the Innovative Rural-Scape Summer School on May 25, with participants also from Anhui Jianzhu University and Hefei University of Technology.

More than 60 faculty members and students from the four universities are taking part in a 16-day program, which includes visits to Shanghai, Nanjing, Huizhou and Hangzhou. During the study tour, participants will explore the regeneration of Shanghai’s urban waterfront industrial heritage, the historical landscape at Nanjing’s Sun Yat-sen Mausoleum, the ancient waterway system in the traditional village of Hongcun, and architectural experiments with rammed earth in Daijiashan Village.

By immersing themselves in China’s rural area, participants will gain a deeper understanding of rural innovation and traditional living wisdom.
