Jiangsu's foreign trade up 5.7% in first four months

In the first four months of this year, Jiangsu’s total imports and exports expanded 5.7% year-on-year to 1.85 trillion yuan, 3.3 percentage points higher than the national growth rate and accounting for 13.1% of the national total during the same period, according to Nanjing Customs.

Imports and exports by foreign-invested enterprises in Jiangsu grew 7.2% in the first four months, contributing 46.8% to the province’s total trade. Private enterprises and state-owned enterprises experienced growth rates of 2.7% and 14.5%, respectively, accounting for 44.8% and 8.4% of the total trade.

The province’s export of mechanical and electrical products climbed by 11.1%, representing 68.9% of total exports.

Imports of mechanical and electrical products grew 3.1%, accounting for 57% of the province’s total imports during the period, while consumer goods imports increased by 6.1%.
