Several cities across Jiangsu Province are continuing their “unswept fallen leaves” campaign, aiming to preserve the autumnal charm of selected streets and areas.

This approach does not mean that leaves are left entirely untouched but rather that a refined management system is in place to allow residents and visitors to enjoy the iconic colors of fall.

As a famed cultural and historical city, Suzhou has been implementing this initiative for 14 consecutive years, expanding its scope to include not only designated streets but also open parks, small gardens, ancient villages, and scenic spots.

Suqian has adopted this practice for seven years, focusing on areas with abundant foliage and moderate pedestrian traffic. The urban management department has also prepared equipment such as dust suppressors, sprinklers, and blowers to maintain environmental quality.

The Songjiacheng Scenic Area in Yangzhou has also maintained its tradition of leaving fallen leaves unswept. The scenic area takes into account factors such as rainfall, the presence of decayed leaves, and potential pileup to ensure that visitor can fully immerse themselves in the seasonal beauty.
