The cultural and tourism authorities from the Yangtze River Delta convened a meeting in Yangzhou City on March 6 and 7 to enhance cooperation and integrated development.

Encompassing Shanghai and the provinces of Jiangsu, Zhejiang and Anhui, the delta is committed to pursuing high-quality integrated development, a national development strategy.

At the meeting, Fang Shizhong, deputy head of the Department of Publicity of the CPC Shanghai Municipal Committee and also director of Shanghai’s Department of Culture and Tourism, advocated for a joint promotion of building national cultural parks dedicated to the Grand Canal and the Yangtze River.

Yang Zhichun, director of the Culture and Tourism Department of Jiangsu Province, stressed the region’s close cooperation for development integration. "Furthermore, Jiangsu will be committed to the high-quality integrated development of the delta region’s cultural and tourism sectors," Yang said.

In 2023, the region recorded 2.574 billion domestic tourist trips and a tourism revenue of 3.1 trillion yuan, surpassing 2019 levels and accounting for 52.6% and 63.1% of the national totals.
