March 25 marked the opening of the 2021 Wuxi International Cherry Blossom Week and the 34th Anniversary of the China-Japan Cherry Blossom Friendship Forest.
The event also saw agreements inked for 46 projects in four categories: organizations, friendly exchange, educational cooperation, and economic and trade cooperation.
The annual cherry blossom week has become a great carnival in the city, attracting domestic and international visitors to enjoy the spectacular view of cherry blossoms.
The event started in 1987 when the China-Japan Cherry Blossom Friendship Forest was launched. It has evolved to incorporate many international exchanges in fields of trade, culture and tourism, turning into a well-known event in the country’s international exchange.
Over 34 years, Wuxi welcomed more than 16,000 Japanese visitors to participant in tree planting and other events. Nowadays, cherry blossoms can be seen everywhere in Wuxi, from the parks to roads, campuses, neighborhoods and villages. The city has over 200,000 cherry trees, in nearly 100 varieties, and receives over 2 million visitors each year.
