The Qinglong Mountain Tunnel, part of the Nanjing-Jurong Intercity Railway, went through the mountain ahead of schedule.
The railway includes an elevated and ground section of about 26.9 kilometers and an underground section of about 16.8 kilometers. It has 13 stations, including 7 underground, with an average distance between stations of 3.6 km. The line starts from Maqun Station, a transport hub in eastern Nanjing, and ends at Jurong High Speed Rail Station.
The tunnel, located in Nanjing's Jiangning District, faces Tangshan in the north across the Nanjing-Hangzhou Highway (S122) and has a length of about 1,062 meters, the only tunnel in the railway.
The intercity railway also features a cable-stayed bridge between Dongjiaoxiaozhen Station and Guquan Station. The 340-meter-long bridge spans over the ramp of the planned 3rd Ring Road and Nanjing-Hangzhou Highway, making it the largest such bridge in China’s subway projects. The bridge’s two main towers will become a major attraction along the railway.
