With a total installed capacity of 400 megawatts, the Rudong offshore photovoltaic-hydrogen energy project was fully connected to the grid on April 29. It is expected to generate approximately 468 million kilowatt-hours of electricity annually—enough to meet the yearly electricity needs of 700,000 residents.
This is China’s largest project integrating photovoltaic power generation, hydrogen production, and energy storage, piloting a model of comprehensive energy utilization and coastal ecological management. In addition to the solar farm, the project in Rudong County features a 60 MW/120 MWh energy storage facility and a station with a hydrogen production capacity of 1,500 standard cubic meters per hour and hydrogen refueling capability of 500 kilograms per day. The project will significantly contribute to the region’s green and low-carbon development.
