SK Geo Centric and STL signed a memorandum of understanding for the EAA Phase II project in Lianyungang on March 22.

The two sides pledged to combine their respective advantages to further build and operate a new EAA project with a production capacity of 50,000 tons per year, involving a total investment of 2.17 billion yuan.

Ethylene acrylic acid (EAA) is a high value-added chemical material widely used in aseptic packaging, toughened glass, EV battery diaphragm, and other fields. The first EAA factory between the two sides boasts an annual capacity of 40,000 tons and is scheduled to start commercial operations in the first half of 2025. The Chinese market currently relies on imported EAA.

The two sides also unveiled their new joint venture, China-Korea Kerui New Materials (Jiangsu) Co Ltd, marking the official operation of the first EAA project in China as a business entity. Both parties are committed to addressing the challenges posed by climate change and environment to human survival and development, and creating a green future together.
