Sensata Technologies signed an agreement virtually on May 16 to increase investment in Changzhou High-tech Zone, the third such increase since 2004.
The new Sensata project, one of key development initiatives in the city, envisions a manufacturing, research and development center with a total investment of $90 million. It will offer 30 types of products in many fields such new energy, self-driving and Micro-Electro-Mechanical-Systems (MEMS).
With a history of 106 years, Sensata is a leading industrial technology company that develops sensors, sensor-based solutions, including controllers and software, and other mission-critical products. It established a company in Changzhou in 2004 and has introduced dozens of production lines for the production of industry-leading sensors and controllers.
Sensata increased its investment of $30 million in 2010 and then $10 million in 2012 to expand the development and production in Changzhou amid growing confidence in the Chinese market. Today Sensata Changzhou has grown into an innovative company with more than 3,700 employees and an annual output value of over 6 billion yuan.
