Five cities in East China’s Jiangsu Province ranked in the top 10 economies in the Yangtze River Delta, one of China's most dynamic regions with the highest-level opening-up and the strongest innovation capability.
Among the delta’s 41 cities that have released the economic growth data in the first half of the year, the 10 winners are Shanghai, Suzhou, Hangzhou, Nanjing, Ningbo, Wuxi, Nantong, Hefei, Changzhou and Wenzhou.
Suzhou had a GDP of 1.07 trillion yuan in the period, up 14% year on year, becoming the first in Jiangsu, Zhejiang and Anhui provinces to exceed the threshold of one trillion yuan. The city’s general public budget revenue hit 140.4 billion yuan, an increase of 15.8%. Suzhou kept first place in Jiangsu in terms of general public budget revenue and economic growth.
Nanjing, the capital of the province, and prefecture-level cities of Wuxi and Nantong, all had GDP of more than 500 billion yuan in the first half of the year.
