Nanjing released its first list of ten companies that are specialized in producing eco-friendly wall materials for buildings on March 17.

Data showed the city’s annual production capacity of new type of wall materials reached 5.1 billion standard bricks. Companies were able to recycle 2.5 million tons of demolition waste, 1.2 million tons of sludge and mud from construction and 60,000 tons of urban sludge, which can save 110,000 tons of standard coal.

To make new progress, the city’s Commission of Rural and Urban Construction will continue to guide the transformation of enterprises, improve the proportion of green building materials in certifying green buildings, and promote the industry of new wall materials to peak to peak CO2 emissions and achieve carbon neutrality.

In the city, demolition waste, sludge and mud from construction and urban sludge have been increasingly reused to make bricks instead of clay, and this production method has proved to be low-carbon and environmentally friendly. The produces also show high strength, good performance and easy operation in using.

One company on the list is Liangsheng New Building Materials that uses construction waste as the raw material to make concrete bricks, blocks and permeable pavers. The production process adopts strict control over dust and noise, and 85% of waste water and solid can be recycled. The factory also looks like a garden thanks to careful decoration with green plants and rockeries.
