China-Mauritius FTA: good news for Nanjing enterprises
2021-01-04 16:11:00

The free trade agreement (FTA) between China and Mauritius, the 17th FTA signed by China and also the first FTA between China and an African country, took effect on January 1.

Nanjing’s import and export enterprises can apply for the certificate of origin under the agreement that allows lower tariff rates, either through the city’s Government Service Centre or the Nanjing chapter of the CCPIT (the China Council for the Promotion of International Trade).

The CCPIT’s Nanjing chapter will provide a set of free services to the city's enterprises, such as the tariff enquiry, information of foreign trade in Mauritius, and business networking and investment opportunities in the African country.

It can issue certificates of origin for 14 types of products under the FTA and it issued 17,662 copies in 2020. This helped save costs of $94.1 million for Nanjing’s enterprises and supported their development in international market.
