Jiangsu (Nanjing) International Commercial Arbitration Centre opens

The Jiangsu (Nanjing) International Commercial Arbitration Centre held the official opening ceremony at the Nanjing Arbitration Commission on December 31.

The Nanjing-based center will pool the knowledge and expertise from across the province and develop into a leading arbitration agency to offer a wide range of services. It will focus on disputes in international trade, cross-border investment, mergers and acquisitions, modern finance, information technology, high-end manufacturing, shipping and logistics. Since its operation in August, it has handled over 20 cases for market players at home and abroad.

Arbitration agencies in Jiangsu overcame the impact of COVID-19 and handled more than 13,600 cases in 2020, an increase of nearly 45 percent over 2019, and they involved a total amount of 19.3 billion yuan, 400 million yuan more than one year ago. The cases covered disputes in many fields including cross-border trade, construction, land transaction, equity transfer, finance, insurance, leasing and property.
