Jiangsu’s holiday sales volume reaches 12.62 billion yuan

The sales volume of key commercial enterprises in Jiangsu reached 12.62 billion yuan during the eight-day National Day and Mid-Autumn Festival holiday, with the daily average sales up 10.7 percent year on year, according to the Jiangsu Department of Commerce.

Since September, nearly 10,000 enterprises have participated the province's 387 events held to stimulate consumption including 66 experiential consumption events and 60 auto exhibitions.

The events fueled the rapid growth of sales of key enterprises. Suzhou Matro, a comprehensive shopping mall, reported the sales of nearly 100 million yuan, up 79.3 percent year on year. Vipshop (Kunshan) E-Commerce, which operates the e-commerce website VIP.com, saw its sales to rise by 10 percent to reach 210 million yuan.

The province’s key shopping districts also saw booming growth during the holiday. The 37 department stores and shopping complexes in Nanjing’s Xinjiekou business district had the total sales of 1.69 billion yuan, up 14.6 percent year on year. Nine main supermarkets also achieved sales of 330 million yuan, a year-on-year growth of 11 percent.

The 26 key food and beverage enterprises in Wuxi City achieved sales of 150 million yuan, an increase of 19.7 percent year on year. The table occupation rate in Yancheng’s key food services providers reached 80 percent, and its hotel occupancy rate was over 70 percent.

 

Nantong’s 31 4S dealership stores made sales of 130 million yuan. Sales of BMW and Lexus in Wuxi City rose by 36 percent and 44 percent, respectively.

Data also showed 37,600 film screening sessions, 1.97 million moviegoers and 77.758 million yuan at Jiangsu’s box office, which accounted for 10.6 percent of the country’s total and ranked 2nd highest during the holiday.

The four major state-owned oil companies sold 388,800 tons of refined oil, and the average daily sales of gasoline increased by 9.6 percent year-on-year. This showed the number of people who traveled by car exceeded the level of the same period last year.
