The maritime bureau in East China’s Zhangjiagang City has taken proactive measures to ensure the change of over 4,000 Chinese crew members on nearly 500 international vessels since the COVID-19 outbreak in last year.

The latest crew change on February 24 involved ten people working for COS PROSPERITY, a bulk carrier that is sailing under the flag of Singapore.

Amid comprehensive measures to prevent and control the pandemic, the bureau has stepped up efforts to protect the legitimate rights and interests of Chinese crew members, facilitating their disembarking or boarding the cargo vessels.

The bureau has strengthened the review and approval for a crew change operation on international vessels, which need to provide a list of ports of call, declaration of health of crew members, negative COVID-19 test result, and inspection report from the last foreign port during the past 14 days.
