Lou Qinjian, secretary of the CPC Jiangsu Provincial Committee, has urged efforts to promote the province's agricultural and rural modernization on Dec. 28.

Solving issues related to agriculture, rural areas and farmers is a top priority that should be considered for the overall modernization drive. Jiangsu will improve the infrastructure, address the gaps in agricultural and rural development, and stimulate the growth potential.

Lou said the province has overcome the impacts of the COVID-19 pandemic and severe flooding, implemented key initiatives, ensured the record output of grain and continuous rise of farmer’s income, maintained the sound momentum, and achieved new progress in agricultural and rural development. In a new stage of development, Jiangsu will focus on the comprehensive implementation of the rural revitalization strategy.

Efforts will be made to accelerate the agricultural development, scientifically adjust the agricultural structure, and enhance the quality of products and efficiency.

The province will speed up the overall development of the countryside, give priority to the Beautiful Village program, improve the housing conditions of farmers, promote the joint construction and sharing of infrastructure, and take the national lead in narrowing the development gap between urban and rural areas.

Jiangsu will also strengthen rural revitalization campaign and promote revitalization of rural culture.
