A smart robot powered by 5G joined police patrolling in Wuxi City, Jiangsu Province on September 1, the first such high-tech device in the city.

An officer from the Liangxi Road Police Station said the device consists of 8 cameras, among which the main camera on the top can be raised, lowered, and rotated to have a 360-degree view of the environment. With the use of 5G, it supports the real-time data transmission, and the infrared temperature measurement is also a great help to identify fire risks. In emergency, resident can also touch a button on the robot to call police.

In addition to the patrol robot, local police have also put into use smart equipment cabinet that operates on face recognition. The increasing use of high-tech equipment is expected to improve emergency response of police officers on the frontline.
