Nantong-based Jinghua Pharmaceutical Group donated 834,000-yuan ($120,350) worth of medications to support the fight against the COVID-19 outbreak in Iran, through the country’s Consulate General in Shanghai on March 7.

The donation included 300,000 tablets of chloroquine phosphate and 24,000 vials of Wangshi Baochiwan, an oral liquid used to improve gastrointestinal conditions and has been registered as an intangible cultural heritage item in China.

The spread of coronavirus in Iran has caused shortage of protection and treatment materials. On March 6, the Silk Road Cities Alliance that promotes the bond of friendship between the Chinese and Iranian people passed Iran's request to Jinghua Pharmaceutical Group, which later immediately allocated and delivered relevant anti-epidemic drugs.

Ramazan Parvaz, consul general of Iran in Shanghai said that true friendship stands in difficult times and Iranian people will never forget the friendship of Chinese people who sent precious anti-epidemic drugs in very short time. He said the medicines will be promptly put into use at relevant Iranian hospitals within a week.
