An 80-year-old man, infected with COVID-19, was discharged from the Affiliated Hospital of Xuzhou Medical University on March 4 after receiving plasma treatment, the first case of its kind in Jiangsu.
The patient, surnamed Jia, was diagnosed on February 9 and then transferred to the isolation ward of the hospital, where he was treated with the use of convalescent plasma from a recovered patient, an approach to improve the immune system
The therapy proved effective during close observation. Since February 29, multiple nucleic acid tests showed negative with samples taken from multiple sites on his body and reached the state’s latest standard of leaving hospital.
