TIANJIN, JUNE 14 -- Duanwu, or the Dragon Boat Festival, is traditionally celebrated on the fifth day of the fifth month on the Chinese lunar calendar to honor the death of Chinese poet Qu Yuan, who lived in the Warring States Period (475-221 BC). It falls on June 14 this year.
A Dragon boat racing was held Monday on the Haihe River in Tianjin to mark Duanwu. The competition attracted 34 dragon boat teams from universities, companies, and social organizations.
