TEHRAN, May 31 -- Iran on Monday reported 11,042 new COVID-19 cases, taking the country's total infections to 2,913,136.
The pandemic has so far claimed 80,156 lives in Iran, up by 217 in the past 24 hours, the Iranian Ministry of Health and Medical Education reported.
A total of 2,458,684 people have recovered from the disease or been discharged from hospitals across the country, while 4,160 remain in intensive care units, according to the ministry.
By Monday, 3,643,356 people have received first doses of coronavirus vaccines in the country, with 522,707 taking two doses.
Iran reported first cases of the disease in February 2020.
