This year marks the 50th anniversary of the establishment of diplomatic relations between China and the European Union. Co-organized by the Mission of People's Republic of China to the European Union, the Information Office of Jiangsu Provincial People's Government and Jiangsu International Culture Association, "An Encounter with Chinese Culture: Jiangsu Week of Grand Canal Culture" opened in Belgium, the headquarters of the EU on June 10, presenting the charm of the Grand Canal to European audiences.
As the origin of the Grand Canal of China, Jiangsu is an important window for showcasing the culture of the Grand Canal to the world. "Millennia-old Canal, Charm of Jiangsu", a special exhibition of the history, culture and scenery was launched at the opening ceremony, showcasing the historical features and culture of the Jiangsu section of the Grand Canal.
Intangible cultural heritage and tea culture display, digital exhibitions, and interactive activities will be also held in Belgium and Croatia.
