Qingtuan, or green sticky rice ball, is a popular spring snack in Jiangnan, the region traditionally south of the lower reaches of the Yangtze River.

Bright green, soft and fragrantly sweet, it is made from glutinous rice and wormwood juice, and stuffed with red bean paste or seasonal ingredients, such as malantou (Kalimeris indica), dried tofu, shepherd's purse or bamboo shoots.
