Nanjing opened its first metro line in 2005, with the station names reflecting a deep connection to the cultural and historical heritage of the city. Written by author Xue Bing, the book covers the stories behind the names of 294 metro stations across 17 lines in Nanjing. It features over 100 works by contemporary photographers and a 1923 map of Nanjing drawn by renowned local historian Chen Zuoyi.
The book explores topics such as the historical evolution of station names, scenic landmarks, and fascinating anecdotes about notable figures, offering a unique perspective of Nanjing’s 3,100 years of history and cultural development.
