The Cross-Strait Mid-Autumn Lantern Festival held its light-up ceremony in Kunshan on the evening of August 13.
The Mid-Autumn Festival, celebrated on the 15th day of the eighth month of the Chinese lunar calendar, falls on September 17 this year.
Kunshan is one of the regions with the highest concentration of Taiwan investment and businesses in the Chinese mainland. Huiju Square in the Kunshan Economic and Technological Development Zone is divided into four lantern zones under various themes, featuring dragon-shaped lanterns while celebrating fine traditional culture.
Compared to previous lantern festivals, this edition highlights an integration of tradition, culture, modernity and technology, using innovations such as metaverse for stunning visual effects. The eight lantern designs showcase traditional culture, beautiful landscapes, and fascinating customs.
Since its luanch in 2013, the event has used lanterns as a medium for compatriots on both sides of the Taiwan Strait to jointly appreciate cultural essences and celebrate this important traditional holiday. It also promotes the high-quality integrated development between Taiwan and Kunshan.
