The Jiangsu Centre for the Performing Arts (JSCPA) is staging four performances of its original dance drama A Dream of Red Mansions at the Esplanade Theatre in Singapore from September 13 to 15. 

In the lead-up to the dance drama’s first overseas show, a series of exchange activities took place, including a meeting with creative and cast members at the Singapore Chinese Cultural Centre on September 12.

The production’s director and lead actor, Li Xing, said that the stage design combines symbolic expressions from traditional Chinese culture to create a vast imaginative space. 

The creative team expressed their hope that the performance would allow Singaporean audiences to experience the charm of traditional Chinese culture while fostering cultural exchange.

Since its debut, the dance drama has toured various regions across China, attracting nearly 400,000 viewers.
