As the year 2024 marks the 45th anniversary of diplomatic relations between China and the United States, 427 teachers and students from 24 states in the U.S. participated in the “Discover Jiangsu American Youth Exchange Program” from June 9 to 29.
In batches, they visited the province’s 13 cities and engaged in various activities, such as student exchanges and cultural experiences.

In Suzhou, they explored the historical heritage of Tongli Ancient Town and visited technological companies specializing in artificial intelligence. In Wuxi, they lingered in Huishan Ancient Town, a typical Jiangnan water town, and learned about the use of technologies to enhance intelligent urban management. In Changzhou, amidst light rain, they donned straw hats and took off their shoes to experience rice planting. In Yangzhou, they tried their hands at making Yangzhou baozi (steamed buns) and Yangzhou fried rice.
The program, initiated by the province’s Education Department in 2015, has successfully held 30 sessions, attracting more than 2,100 teachers and students from nine countries.
