Foreign students participating in the Reading Jiangsu program showcased their creative works during an exhibition at Nanjing Normal University on December 16, marking the successful conclusion of the program.
Organized by the Jiangsu Provincial Department of Education, the program aims to facilitate cultural and people-to-people exchanges while enhancing the province’s reputation as a favorable destination for international students.
The program started in May and attracted 445 students from 68 countries, who are studying in the province’s 49 schools. The activities included reading classical works, holding exchanges, and visiting various locations depicted in the books, such as Nanjing, Yangzhou Xuzhou and Suzhou. These efforts helped international students explore the cultural heritage of the coastal province and local customs.
The program received 318 creative works submitted by students from 56 schools, with 143 entries awarded after evaluation by experts. Le Van Duc from Vietnam, one winner of the first prize, shared his gains from this activity, “it’s remarkable to see traditional Chinese culture still vibrant in modern life. The reading event has enabled international students to experience the diversity, inclusiveness and unique charm of Chinese culture.”
