Zuo Tong, a 17-year-old athlete from Jiangsu Province, won the women's all-around gymnastics title with a score of 53.565 points at the Asian Games in Hangzhou City on September 27.
A native of Huai’an City in Jiangsu, Zuo joined the national team in 2022 and has set multiple records.
She is the first athlete from Jiangsu to win a gold medal in this sport at Asiad since the province established its gymnastics team. In nearly two decades, she is also the first from the province to be selected for the national women's gymnastics team for the largest sports event in Asia.
"I reverted to the routine I’m familiar with in free gymnastics, allowing me to better showcase my strengths. The music complements my style and, with the help of my dance teacher, I am trying to improve my performance," said Zuo.
On September 25, Zuo and her teammates also secured the 13th consecutive team title for China in the women's gymnastics.
