The Nanjing division of Jiangsu Provincial Dragon Boat Race started on the outer section of the Qinhuai River on May 16.

Despite rain showers, nearly 320 participants of 12 teams including Suzhou, Changzhou, Lianyungang competed in the race that included 200-meter and 500-meter categories. The Nanjing Commercial College won the team championship.

Some of the participants will also participate in the 14th Chinese National Games to be held this year, and some are from nine universities, including Southeast University, Soochow University and Jiangsu Ocean University.

The event was co-organized by Jiangsu Sports Federation, Jiangsu Dragon Boat Association, Gulou District People's Government and Nanjing Tourism Group.
