Children learn to make colored lanterns at the Nanjing Folklore Museum on February 21, 2021. The event helps children understand the city’s history and traditional customs including the Lantern Festival, celebrated on the 15th day of the first month in the Chinese lunar calendar. Cao Hong, a master of Cao-style lanterns, taught participants how to make handmade lanterns for a great festival. The museum has organized a series of events in a cultural campaign called Four Seasons and Eight Solar Terms. The purpose is to bring life the folk customs and contribute to the cultural preservation through innovative engagement.
