A new Wuxi Opera program in honor of Ding Ganren (1866-1926), a distinguished representative of the Menghe Medical School in Jiangsu Province, was staged during the Zijin Culture and Art Festival on October 13.
Xiju, also known as Wuxi Opera, is a genre of opera which originated in the southern region of the Yangtze River Delta. The play, a new creation by Changzhou Wuxi Opera Troupe, shows the legendary life of Ding, including his efforts to inherit and innovate the traditional Chinese medicine.
