Born in 1996 in Huai'an City, Cai previously won the National Rowing Championships since he started his rowing training in 2009.
Cai’s coach, Liu Jian, said it took less than ten days for Cai and other team members to prepare for the event after completing the 2023 World Rowing Championships.

Chinese Olympic champion Zhang Yufei won the women's 200m butterfly title at the 19th Asian Games in Hangzhou on September 24.
The 25-year-old star swimmer from Jiangsu Province broke the Games record in two minutes and 5.57 seconds.
"The 200m butterfly holds great significance to me. It's one of the events I've been most afraid of since I was a kid, so I was under heavy pressure,” said Zhang.
“This gold medal serves as an inspiration for me and I think it’s also a good beginning for my teammates," she added.
Zhang also secured another gold for China in the women's 4×100m freestyle relay later by clocking 3 minutes and 33.96 seconds.
