China unveiled on Monday a self-developed subway train, taking the country's first step towards a national standardized urban rail transit.
The subway train developed by CRRC Qingdao Sifang Co., Ltd. possesses independent intellectual property rights, with over 85 percent of its components fully made in China.
Running between central China's Xuchang city and Zhengzhou Xinzheng International Airport in Henan Province, the train has a design speed of 120 km/h and can operate autonomously.
Most current subway trains in China equip components made to different standards, resulting in higher maintenance costs. The new train is part of a project that aims to promote a standardize system with self-developed technologies, to extend the life cycle of subway train units and provide equipment support for sustainable urban rail transit.
