NEW DELHI, Sept. 19 -- The number of confirmed COVID-19 cases in India Saturday morning rose to 5,308,014, India's federal health ministry said.
During the past 24 hours, 93,337 new cases and 1,247 deaths were reported from across the country.
"The total number of confirmed COVID-19 cases across India is 5,308,014 and death toll is 85,619," reads the information released by the ministry.
According to ministry officials, 4,208,431 people have been discharged from hospitals after showing improvement, and the number of active cases in the country right now is 1,013,964.
Meanwhile, 62,454,254 samples have been tested, out of which 881,911 tests were conducted on Friday alone, Indian Council of Medical Research (ICMR) said Saturday.
India, the second worst-hit country due to COVID-19 is in the grip of the pandemic and cases are increasing with each passing day.
