Family commemoration held for Nanjing Massacre victims

(Wan Chengpeng/Xinhua Daily)

The Memorial Hall of the Victims in Nanjing Massacre by Japanese Invaders held a family commemoration event for the victims of the massacre on December 1.

Massacre survivors and descendants of victims, together with youth representatives, gathered to pay tribute to their loved ones in front of the "wailing wall" at the memorial hall.

This wall, engraved with names of the victims who perished 87 years ago, symbolizes the profound grief of countless families and serves as a powerful reminder of the memory that must never be forgotten.

Survivors Liu Minsheng (90), Xia Shuqin (95), and Ai Yiying (96), accompanied by their families, visited the wall to honor the deceased. They conveyed the message to the world of remembering history and cherishing peace.

Representatives of the "inheritors of historical memories regarding the Nanjing Massacre" recited a poem, mourning the 300,000 Chinese civilians and unarmed soldiers brutally killed in one of the darkest chapters of World War II.

As time passes, the number of Nanjing Massacre survivors continues to decline, with only 32 survivors remaining today. To preserve historical truth and ensure the memory is passed down through generations, the memorial hall has issued certificates to 32 individuals as "inheritors of historical memories regarding the Nanjing Massacre".
