Dance drama A Dream of Red Mansions marks 200th show

A dance drama inspired by “A Dream of Red Mansions,” one of the four ancient Chinese literature classics written by Cao Xueqin of the Qing Dynasty (1644-1911), held its 200thperformance recently in Hangzhou City, Zhejiang Province.

Produced by the Jiangsu Centre for the Performing Art, the nearly two-hour show concluded to applauses and cheers that lasted more than 10 minutes.

To commemorate this milestone, the event featured a special reunion of performers who have played the same role over the years.

Director Li Chao said milestones like the 100th and 200th shows are akin to special family occasions, prompting invitations to all past performers to return for the celebration and honor their commitment to the show.
