Manager of LG Nanjing praises Jiangsu's business environment
Jung Su Yong from South Korea has been working in Nanjing for 5 years. As deputy general manager of LG Energy Solution Nanjing Co Ltd, he won the title of "Envoy of People's Friendship of Jiangsu" on November 26, 2022.
"The recognition means a lot to me. I see it as an honour and a mission, and will continue to contribute to the development of Jiangsu," he said.
The EV battery company with more than 10,000 employees is the largest production base of LG Energy Solution. With measures focusing on talent localization and working efficiency, the company boasts the Korean giant's most professional and largest human resources team in China, and also continuously promotes innovation in management and operation, according to Jung.
At the end of 2022, more than 100 frontline employees completed training on lithium-ion battery manufacturing. In response to Jiangsu's calling for a skilled workforce, the company has carried out its own vocational training and verification program for employees, setting an example in talent cultivation in the province. The 51-year-old said the company has conducted in-person training every year, including more than 400 sessions in 2022.
He said efforts have been made in talent localization and fulfilling social responsibility, such as creating about 3,000 jobs in the past five years.
A visit to the complex will find a distinctive self-service government service station with several touch-screen devices inside the space of 25 square meters. The device makes it easy to process more than 70 administrative items online, such as printing electronic tax invoices and social security payment records, just to name a few.
This was the first such service centre established by the Nanjing Economic and Technological Development Zone in September 2020 amid efforts to streamline administration and optimize government services.
Jung said the station can help employees easily get the services and also supports the company's production and operation. In his view, Jiangsu has launched a series of initiatives to optimize business environment, bringing convenient and thoughtful services to enterprises and employees, reducing time costs, and helping companies to focus on development.
"Our investment in Jiangsu has reached 22.47 billion yuan, and the company also achieved its sales and profits targets in 2022," he said. The eighth factory went into operation in 2002 and preparation for the ninth factory is now in full swing, with mass production planned in the second half of this year.
The company has opened a café and a bubble tea outlet, built a 6,000-square-meter sports park, and also upgraded the gym and baby-care room every year. "We hope to create a good working environment for our employees," said Jung.
For his own career development, Jung said he hopes to work in Nanjing for at least 10 years, and to create a company that people truly respect and love.
