Liu Li, an overseas sales manager of Xuzhou Construction Machinery Group Co., Ltd. (XCMG), has been working in North Africa for six years.

A major of French in university education, she always wanted to work abroad and realized the dream in 2017, when she arrived on the continent as a member of an advance team by the leading Chinese machinery manufacturer.

Liu took business trips extensively in Algeria, Tunisia, Morocco and French-speaking countries, responsible for market research, product promotion and sometimes sales support. In addition to improving her skills and knowledge, she organized agents to receive training on equipment, hosted the outreach program in French-speaking regions during XCMG's overseas customer festival, and made promotional materials for diverse machinery products in response to customer needs. Liu was known among her colleagues as a capable multitasker.

XCMG machinery equipment has been used a lot in many major construction projects in North Africa. Liu said Chinese equipment is cost-effective and has obvious competitive advantages. According to her business partners in Algeria, they feel relaxed to work with Chinese brands because the Chinese are quick to respond and also have a positive mindset in solving problems.

In her own time, Liu also likes travelling and is particularly interested in understanding different architectural styles and customs so she is better ready to integrate into local society.

Liu said she hopes Chinese manufacturing sector can make new progress along with the contribution of everyone and showcase the charm of China as a major country in the world.
