Bostjan Slajkovec: governmental support boost confidence in Jiangsu

Bostjan Slajkovec, general manager at Cablex CN Electronics in Xuzhou City, is happy to know that the company will be exempt from paying the rent for the next two months thanks to measures introduced to help SMEs tide over the COVID-19 epidemic.

Cablex CN Electronics, wholly invested by Cablex Group headquartered in Slovenia, specializes in cable harnesses and assemblies since its launch in the Science and Technology Park of Xuzhou Economic Development Zone in 2011. A long-term supplier to famous companies including Siemens and Electrolux, the company has nearly 400 employees and also promotes the friendship between Xuzhou and Slovenia.

After the outbreak, Slajkovec chose to get through this difficult period together with employees and the people of Xuzhou. The Foreign Affairs Office of Xuzhou took the initiative to contact Slajkovec to help his company get back on track, such as preparing medical supplies used to prevent the epidemic. The company resumed work on February 11 and has now restored approximately 90 percent of its production capacity.

He said he has been deeply impressed by China’s emergency response in the epidemic. The nationally coordinated moves and rapid, effective quarantine efforts in a city, residential areas and buildings are only possible in China.

Two employees of Cablex CN Electronics have their family members as medical professionals, who were sent to assist epidemic control in Wuhan City. “There are many heroes like them in China. Their hard work and sacrifices, day and night, and the whole nation's unwavering efforts are the exact reasons to contain the epidemic in a short time,” said Slajkovec.

After knowing some foreign rumors of China’s COVID-19 control, he decided to tell the true story on his own. He took photos of himself shopping in the supermarket including shelves that are packed with merchandise.

After living in Xuzhou for six years, he said he now looks forward to the authentic Chinese food to celebrate the arrival of the spring at the end of epidemic.
