The water quality of the Yangtze River's main stream flowing through Jiangsu Province has remained consistently at Grade II for seven consecutive years, according to a press conference held by the provincial Department of Ecology and Environment on December 30.
Jiangsu boasts a significant water area, covering 17% of its total landmass, the highest percentage in the nation. The province has actively participated in national initiatives, including the Yangtze River protection and the new round of comprehensive management of Lake Taihu. Dedicated campaigns have been implemented to maintain the water quality standards of the Yangtze River’s main stream and tributaries.
Jiangsu is committed to strengthening infrastructure construction as a fundamental strategy for the protection of water environment. During the 14th Five-Year Plan period, Jiangsu aims to advance 1,074 projects within the Yangtze River basin, with a total investment of 127 billion yuan.
