Taicang Port in Suzhou, Jiangsu Province has emerged as a leading hub for China’s auto exports, as highlighted during the Vibrant China Research Tour media event.

On average, one in every ten cars exported from China is shipped from Taicang Port, which benefits from a comprehensive “road–rail–water” transportation network.

The port is equipped with a specialized cargo train unloading platform, and its strategic location at the Yangtze River estuary ensures efficient waterway transfers. Leveraging these advantages, Taicang Port handled nearly 300 million tonnes of cargo last year.

Among its innovations is the “foldable car frame” transport model. The 48-foot frame, which has eight layers inside, is capable of holding three vehicles per layer.

To further facilitate foreign trade, Taicang Customs has established a dedicated service window for the car exports and promotes paperless approvals.

Beside, the port also serves as an entry point for imported goods such as fruit, grain, aquatic animals and meat.
