On September 16, the “Vibrant China Research Tour” media team visited Xishan District in Wuxi, a region widely known as the “hometown of electric two-wheelers.”
The “Made in Wuxi” e-bikes are steadily expanding into global markets as the industry continues its rapid growth, moving toward the goal of reaching a 100-billion-yuan scale.
Xishan is now home to 64 large-scale vehicle manufacturers and 91 suppliers, with six of China’s top ten e-bike companies operating factories in the district. These companies have stepped up R&D efforts and made advancements in areas such as remote communication control, safety monitoring, and BeiDou-based navigation.
Nationwide, one out of every three e-bikes is manufactured in Xishan, reflecting the city’s industrial strength. In the first half of the year, the district’s e-bike exports and imports reached US$190 million, up 19.5% year on year.
