Kunshan boosts global trade with extensive overseas delegations

Kunshan has accelerated its global outreach to boost international trade, having already sent over 20 trade delegations overseas in May and June.

By the end of June, representatives from over 20 companies are set to visit Spain and Germany to pursue partnerships in high-end equipment, new energy, and electronic information manufacturing. They plan to hold face-to-face meetings with local associations, enterprises and cross-border e-commerce platforms.

These efforts followed a strategy to combine Kunshan’s industrial strengths with digital trade. Since April, the city has hosted over 10 training sessions on cross-border ecommerce, supporting enterprises in opening up new online pathways for international expansion.

Fang Jinfeng, head of the North American Division at Arctech, a leading provider of intelligent solar trackers, returned from a business trip to the United States on June 11, having reached a cooperation agreement with a local manufacturer.

Arctech’s senior vice president Zhou Shijun noted: “We established a company in the U.S. last year and found local enterprises eager to seek reliable and competitive partners. Once we connected, the cooperation came together naturally.”

In addition to expanding exports, foreign trade enterprises in Kunshan are also turning to the domestic market to gain new growth opportunities.
For example, Lamipak, a packaging solutions provider for the food and beverage sector, exported more than 90% of products to regions including Southeast Asia, Europe, the Middle East and South America. Currently, the company is now in talks with leading companies to increase its share of the domestic market, according to Chu Yida, the company’s public relations manager.
