Jiangsu’s container exports surge by 60.9% in 2024

Jiangsu's container export value reached 36.11 billion yuan ($4.96 billion), marking a year-on-year increase of 60.9%, according to Nanjing Customs.

Containers are crucial storage units in international trade and a key part of the province’s manufacturing prowess. For example, Nantong CIMC-Special Transportation Equipment Manufacture Co., Ltd. exported 65,700 containers in 2024, a 104.67% year-on-year increase, and 13 batches with a total value of 68.6954 million yuan in January of this year. "Our company can produce more than 3,000 types of products, widely used in fields such as minerals, environmental protection, and aerospace," said Xue Ying, the company’s customs manager.

In Changzhou City, Xinhuachang International Containers Co., Ltd., with an annual production capacity of 200,000 to 300,000 TEUs, mainly exports containers to shipping and leasing companies in Europe and America. The company’s container exports in 2024 totaled 3.477 billion yuan, a remarkable 464.45% year-on-year increase. The company’s customs manager, He Xiaoyan, said the surge in new container orders last year has strained yard space, despite improved customs clearance efficiency since November 2019.
