Suzhou to launch new general airport by 2026
Suzhou is expected to commence operations of its new general airport by the end of 2026, according to the city’s recent transportation work conference.
The airport will be located at the intersection of the southeast of Shajiabang Town in Changshu and the northwest of Bacheng Town in Kunshan, covering an area of approximately 75.8 hectares. Designed as an A1-level general airport, it will feature a runway of 1,600 meters long and 45 meters wide, suitable for various types of general aviation aircraft. The airport will include a comprehensive building, control tower, hangars, garages, and refueling facilities to ensure smooth and efficient operations.
The Civil Aviation Administration of China (CAAC) East China Bureau granted the site review approval on October 31, 2024, and the feasibility study report for the project has also been completed. The project team is now making all-out efforts to start construction within this year to guarantee full completion and operational status by the end of 2026.
