Jiangsu’s railway networks hit new record of 300 million passenger trips
The passenger volume on Jiangsu's railways reached 300.18 million as of December 18, surpassing the 300 million mark for the first time in history and setting a new record.
Jiangsu's railway networks experienced steady passenger growth in passenger volume this year. The daily record was first broken on January 1 with 1.356 million passenger trips, followed by 10 million trips by January 14 and 50 million trips by March 8. During the Qingming Festival holiday, Jiangsu set another daily record with 1.446 million passenger trips on April 6. The province reached the 100 million passenger trips on May 3, 23 days earlier than last year, and surpassed the 200 million mark on August 19, 33 days earlier than last year. By November 24, the province’s passenger volume had already matched the annual throughout of 2023.
Notably, the Shanghai-Nanjing High-Speed Railway along the Yangtze River reported over 14 million passenger trips, contributing to half of the province’s volume increase. New stations such as Jintan, Wujin, and Jiangyin have joined the ranks of stations serving over a million passenger trips, with Jiangyin alone handling over 2.3 million passengers.
